First Haircut!

Michael got his first haircut on Tuesday. He no longer has the fuzzy hair sticking out on the back of his head. We managed to have no tears, screams or any other form of fussing. Of course, the suckers and M&Ms had nothing to do with that :-)

It also helped to have Mrs. Kim from church. Michael loves her and she is great at cutting children's hair. Thanks Mrs. Kim! (Michael was taking the clip out of Mommy's hair - it was another form of entertainment).

John Deere, Monkey Man and more!

Michael is now 10 months old! It is so strange to look back at his scrapbook and see pictures of him from last January. In just 10 months he has changed and grown so much. Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.

Grammy and Papaw decided they needed riding toys already. So, here is the fully-loaded John Deere tractor that Michael and Caroline play with. It comes complete with a working front-loader and a trailer that can be dumped...

Michael was a monkey for Halloween (I thought it was appropriate since he climbs on EVERYTHING!). Poor thing - he was as big around as he was tall with the costume on, but he managed to get around pretty well.

At this point, the photo shoot was over according to Michael - he just turned and walked away...

Playing at the house - he seems to get into everything these days.

Fall is here!

Fall is here! Michael and I just got back from a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN and we enjoyed some nice cold weather. So cold, that I had to buy Michael's winter coat :-)

Well, I just realized that I have not posted in a while, so this will include a few 9 months pictures and some pictures from our trip to TN. Michael is learning and growing so much every day. He is walking very well now and is actually starting to "run" a little too. He has learned the joys of unrolling toilet paper (and has thrown entire rolls into the toilet). He can open cabinets and loves to play with Mommy's pots - luckily I have some plastic Pampered Chef microwave pots that are perfect for him to carry around.

He is also starting to jabber quite a bit. We can tell more and more how he is trying to immitate us. He folds his hands to say the blessing before we eat and he has learned that shoes (or "sss" to Michael) go on your feet. However, that does not mean that he leaves the shoes on his feet. I double-knotted the shoes Nana and Papa bought for him and he still managed to get them untied and take them off!

Anyways, here are some pictures from the past few weeks:

This is my favorite of his 9 months pictures

He was starting to walk around the time he turned 9 months. Here he is playing outstide.
These are his fall pictures from TN. He could not figure out why this bench did not rock like his rocking chair in his room from Miss Beth.

Playing with the gaint pumpkins. Notice the rotten spot on the pumpkin behind - we tried taking pictures there, but he wanted to play with the big black spot (YUCK!)

He is working on his "stinker smile". I almost caught it in this picture, but not quite. When you give him one of his yogurt melts, he scrunches his nose and eyes up and gets this adorable little smile. I am still trying to get a picture of it....

While we were in TN, we drove up into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Here are some pictures from Cade's Cove.

A cool old cabin.

About the only tree that had any color. It got too cold, too fast and most of the leaves just turned brown and fell off.

We saw lots of deer in Cade's Cove. This was a family of deer grazing in a pasture. They were totally oblivious to the cars driving by.

A neat picture of the river.

And last but not least - The SNOW-topped mountain! I wish it had snowed in Pigeon Forge so we could have seen it up close and personal, but this is as close as I have gotten to snow in a few years, so I was super excited. Michael didn't even notice, but maybe it will snow this year and he can experience it :-) Here's hoping!

Changing so FAST!

It seems like Michael learns something new and changes a little more every day. He is developing quite the personality and is keeping us all on our toes! Tonight, we opened the dryer to get some laundry out and Michael proceeded to empty every article of clothing out of the dryer, into the floor (but all pieces had to be properly shaken first!) He was squealing and laughing the whole time. I wish I found laundry that much fun.
He is also down to holding on to one of your fingers to walk around. It won't be long now until we are chasing him all over the house!

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks -
This is the outfit that Nana and Papa bought for him. When Papaw saw it, he asked what is "Ro ArI?" I had to explain that the shirt says "ROAR!" Apparently, his eyesight is getting worse in his old age!
At the dock in our neighborhood -
Poor Callie is such a sweet puppy. She lets Michael "walk" her, throw her ball for her and she even steps back if he tries to come and play in her dish (we now have to put those up when Callie isn't eating!)
I know you can't see Michael very well, but I thought this was still a cool picture with the sunset in the background....

8 months?!?!

Where have the last 8 months gone?! Time seems to fly by these days, but Michael turned 8 months old this week. He is into everything and keeps us all on our toes. He always seems to be "busy" - so much so that sometimes he doesn't want to nap because he has other things to do. Here are some of the latest pictures:

TEETH!! Michael's first tooth popped through on the bottom about a month ago, but he has been very protective. I have just now gotten pictures where you can actually see the tooth (barely).

He also has the two on top - which were not fun to cut apparently. Only one fussy day per tooth is not bad, right??

These are his "8 month pictures". As you can see - he is hard to catch because of the constant distractions. Is it a good thing that he is so observant and curious?? He tried to eat the bark....

Ah.....the wind in my hair! His hair is getting long on top and curling some when its wet.

And my personal favorite - LOOK AT ME! I CAN STAND ON MY OWN! Today he was able to stand on his own, squat down for a toy and ALMOST made it back to a standing position. I counted today and Michael can stand on his own for almost a minute. We are also starting to take a few steps on our own...

Michael is on the move these days !

It's been a while.......

It has been a while since I had the chance to update with more pictures. I have been very busy at work since it is only a few more weeks until the final corporate tax deadline. I have managed to take a few pictures over the last few weeks, though.

A few of Michael's new accomplishments - he can now climb all the way up the stairs in our house (not sure that is a good thing). He is also starting to stand up on his own without holding on to anything (I hear this means he will walk soon). We have progressed from the free fall to get down from a standing position - Michael has learned to squat down to pick up toys or sit down.

Our latest adventure has been teething. Michael has two teeth - one on top and one on bottom. He is working on getting two more soon. I have not been able to get a picture of the teeth yet (he's very protective!)

Here are a few pictures from the last month -

We went to Tennessee two weeks ago for the Edwards family reunion. Michael discovered the joys of grass. I personally think he wants to follow in his Papa's footsteps :-)

Michael thought my great aunt's walking stick would be a fun toy. At least the strap on it entertained him for a while.

Caroline decided Michael looked thirsty. She tried to give him his cup, but he was more interested in the grass....

While we were in Tennessee, Michael got to spend some time with his great grandparents. Here he is with my Papaw.
Shhh......don't tell anybody, but he picked some of the flowers.
The highlight of the trip for Michael was the discovery of the Power Wheels go-cart at my Nana and Papaw's. He rode all around the yard until our backs were hurting from having to lean over and hold the button to make the go-cart run. Poor Callie had a hard time keeping up (she's very protective and followed the go-cart all over the yard)

Michael is almost 8 months old now. We took him to the park in Irmo last weekend with his Nana and Papa to take some pictures. As you can tell - he's always "busy"

He likes to help Grammy with her flowers too. I think this one needs more water....

29 weeks

It is hard to believe that Michael is already almost 7 months old! He's getting to be a very independent boy. He can pull up on anything he wants and is very active. He is getting more brave every day, so we often have spills because he lets go and forgets that he still can't stand on his own :-)

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks.

Outside laughing at Callie and crazy Uncle Chris

He is trying to figure out how he can "catch" Callie

Swinging at Grammy and Papaw's. This is Michael's favorite evening activity (and morning and afternoon if we let him)

Here are some of our many adventures over the past couple of weeks:

He is crawling under the kitchen chairs and trying to stand up, but he gets mad because he can't get back out on his own.

We have moved beyond baby toys. He now likes to play with toys he can pull up to and stand behind. Michael is still a little scared of the toys to walk behind though.

Aunt Kelly and Caroline are at the beach, so Uncle Chris was at Grammy and Papaw's for dinner last night. He was helfpul and gave Michael the spoon I was using to make his blueberries. This is also why Michael has blueberries all over his face and shirt in his 29 week pictures. Somehow, none of it got on Chris though.........
